The wooden shelves are available in two widths, 58 and 78 cm, along with two depths, 20 and 30 cm. The shelves fit into wire and plex panels from String® System if the shelves and panels have the same depth. The shelves are flexible and easy to move around to meet your preferences. Create a monochrome shelf or mix shelves in different colours and types of wood. Each pack contains three shelves and brackets.

Materials: ‐ Veneered particleboard. Veneer is used instead of solid wood to prevent the chance of bowing. It is also the most environmentally sustainable use of wood. The surface is treated with a clear lacquer with gloss 5.  Wood is a living material and can therefore naturally change its appearance over time, especially when the surface is exposed to direct sunlight.

'Modern since 1949'. String is the original component shelving system designed by the Swedish architect Nils Strinning in 1949. He was one of the leading mid-twentieth century designers who built the foundation of what we now call 'Scandinavian design'.

The structure is light weight, yet stable. It is simple to assemble, and the shelves can be easily repositioned. Books are kept in place by the side panels and shelves of different depths can be combined in the same unit. When more shelf space is needed, simply add an additional side panel and some shelves. It is equally suited to a large or a small wall. This and the minimalistic timeless design is the reason why String still attracts attention after 70 years.
